10 Quick Money Saving Tips

Blog / 10 quick money saving tips

Who doesn't want to save some money? I know I do, and as long as I am saving, then I can spend my money where it matters most to me!

  1. Take advantage of cashback! Website’s like Quidco.com offer you cashback on the purchases you make in-store and online. They offer cashback in a range of different shops from travel to office and business to fashion. You can even scan your Tesco receipt and earn cashback! Well, if you’re shopping anyway, you deserve a little reward…

  3. When it’s time to make a big purchase – bring out the experts, see a comparison website. MoneySuperMarket offer a range of comparisons from home to shopping. They also have an online community, so get involved and speak to people who are in the same situation as you are (remember when you were younger - safety in numbers)

  5. Have some free time? Do online surveys, they ask questions – you answer them, then you make points and voila! The points you earn can be converted into vouchers or cash - not bad for giving your opinion.

  7. Get Loyal! Most of the high street shops have a loyalty reward program, Boots give you 4 points for every £1 you spend. If you’re like me, you can save those points up and buy presents when something comes up and you need to buy and emergency present!

  9. According to LoveFoodHateWaste.com “We throw away 7 million tonnes of food and drink from our homes every year, the majority of which could have been eaten. It's costing us £12.5bn a year and is bad for the environment too.” Don’t be that person! Their website has plenty of information on how to shop, store and they even have planners to help you get it right – and you’ll be helping the environment too!

  11. Throw a swap party! You invite your friends around and swap unwanted clothes, it doesn’t need to just be yours – you can swap baby clothes or your partner’s jumper that was a terrible gift and should have “disappeared” (just be sure not to invite said gift giver)

  13. Save money by unplugging your electrical appliances when you’re not using them. “…leaving our everyday appliances on "standby" costs UK households between £50 and £86 a year on average.” This article was written by The Guardian, and can be read here.

  15. Cancel unnecessary direct debits, we know you were meant to go to the gym - but if you’re not, ditch the direct debit!

  17. Get doggy bags (we know it’s very American) but if you’re only going to eat half of your dinner while you’re eating out, the other half could double up for tomorrow night.

  19. Find the cheapest petrol in your area, just click here!
